I have recently needed medical treatment for a skin condition. Getting a telephone consultation via on line system with a follow up leading to an appointment at the surgery has been a very good way to deal with my problem. Very satisfactory and much better than using the phone to go through reception. We have the technology so should use it.

Suggested improvements
Sometimes the telephone consultation on line is not available for a week or more. So if the problem is more urgent an on line alternative would help.

I am a transplant patient and have had difficulties in getting food and supplies delivered, I have been informed I need to have had a letter from my GP practice indicating I am in the at risk group and have been registered on the government site, (i have had nothing? I called my transplant surgery at NGH hospital Sheffield, (they said again I should have had the letter form my GP? if not contact them) so I called them at Newgate street health centre Worksop, only to get the most dismissive person you could have on a reception(no sense of concern, self important, cold replies, as if to to say go away) I tried to inform her of my situation all she stated was all letters have been sent out! that was it? I waited another week still struggling to get supplies, then called again, same response although different receptionist same attitude, I insisted this time then she decided to check the list of letter recipients and low and behold she stated for some reason I was not added to the list whereupon I had to confirm my trans plant dates etc, (I cannot believe the repetitive incompetence of this surgery not only this they keep getting me mixed up with my son who has poly-cystic kidneys same as I had but he has not yet at the transplant stage but he is still vulnerable) the dismissive receptionist then said I should receive a letter in a week or so I am now into my fourth week of lock-down (can you help? ) still no letter my nhs no, 450-399-4506 can you place a price or cost on simply being nice and civil, on the phone (you may not believe this but I actually work in a major company as a front line customer facing employee for over ten years now and I have better customer relations and a better day at work just by talking to customers as though they are my friends I can be jolly and and still keep the call short, because every time me or my wife call this reception they have no customer phone skills whatsoever we always put the phone down feeling stressed at the way we have been spoken too, please, please get your staff sorted out life is too short to be miserable in your work, as above if your smiling on the phone the customer more often than not will smile back, that you

ABSOLUTE GARBAGE NOW Used to be very good, but over the past year it has nose dived DRASTICALLY !! The started a system of ordering prescriptions online due to volumes of phone calls to order repeat scripts ...makes sense ! But now....you order....and they CANCEL WHATEVER THEY WISH I DON'T INFORM YOU - I only find out when its delivered, last time i received two items from seven !! Had to call 3 times to resolve - in which time I had run out of meds etc!...... No apology or reason given ! My Father in law has cancer.... they cancelled his medication !! When my wife asked why...the receptionist (who im sure is highly medically trained) said "Because he doesn't need it"......at the time of the call he was in Hallamshire having radiotherapy ! I had a blood test two days ago...THEY phoned me today to tell me I need to see my doctor due to results.....earliest appointment - TWO WEEKS !!!!!....Not because that is the next appointment available ...BUT BECAUSE DR PRASSAD WILL ONLY TALK ABOUT THIS ISSUE ON A TUESDAY !!!! Changing doctors !!!!!

I have been in to see the receptionist about a water sample she said a nurse would dip it and I would be contacted if they found it to have an infection .I felt unwell and i knew that I had an infection so i went back the following morning and saw a physician assistant who was very helpful He saw on my notes that there were nitrates and blood he said in the sample i had taken in the previous day However i was not informed of this condition and given any medication i was feeling unwell all of that day and I woke up early feeling Ill The nurse who had tested the sample should have informed the doctor and I should have had a prescription then I have always been happy with the service except for not getting appointments when I have needed one but I don't think it is very well planned for us to have to POST our request for a repeat prescription or stand outside in the cold weather at 8 pm when you are suffering with a chest infection and still feeling ill from the flu that caused the chest infection

It used to be a few years ago that if the doctor made a hospital appointment he would send you to a small room where staff would see you within 10 minutes. Then it would take another 5-10 minutes for them to select an appropriate hosptal appointment. Today is very different, 8 days after speaking to the GP and him saying I needed an appointment with the ENT department at a hospital and I've heard nothing. I phoned the appointments dept and was told this older method had stopped and now it's more of a national appointments system. She also said it might be another few weeks before I even get a date for an appointment. 3 weeks compared to 20mins, what is going on ? I've just finished my 5th course of antibiotics and have chronic sisusitis, I can't keep taking antibiotics so looks like I'm gonna be suffering for a long time.
